Joaquín Pérez Catalán is the Director of the International Unit at the Spanish Data Protection Authority which is also the Permanent Secretariat of the Iberoamerican Network of Data Protection, a network stablished in 2003.

He has more than 30 years of professional experience in the fields of Data Protection, IT Security, Privacy in Spain and different countries in Europe, America, Africa and Middle-East.

Before becoming the head of the International Unit, he also was working at the Spanish Data Protection Authority as Inspector making data protection audits on many sectors and he has also been Resident Advisor of the EU in Bulgaria and Israel.

Joaquin hold a Master on Telecommunication Engineer and certifications CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CDPSI by ISACA and is lecture in different curses and master at different universities.
