Sara Bacchio is a Case-Handler in the Directorate 'Digital Platforms' of DG COMPETITION, where she is actively involved in implementing the Digital Markets Act.

Since joining the European Commission's DG COMP in January 2016, Sara has focused extensively on competition law in the digital sector. She has worked as a case handler in the Task Force Digital Single Market, contributing to the e-commerce sector inquiry. She has also been part of a unit that handled antitrust investigations into e-commerce and the data economy, as well as the unit responsible for antitrust in the electronic communications sector.

Before joining the European Commission, Sara spent eight years in private practice at two international law firms in Brussels. There, she advised clients on various aspects of EU competition law, including mergers antitrust, state aid, and EU regulatory matters.

Sara holds a Law degree from Sapienza University of Rome and an LLM in European Law from the College of Europe. She was admitted to the Bar in Italy in 2008.
