Claudio Saban is the data privacy program lead and Data Privacy Officer at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where he is driving the development of a comprehensive, risk-informed privacy program grounded in transparency and the responsible use of personal data. With over 20 years of experience leading cross-functional initiatives across IT, Finance, HR, and Procurement, he champions a “no surprises” approach to data privacy that fosters organizational trust and accountability.

Since joining the IDB in 2000, Mr. Saban has held key leadership roles in enterprise-wide financial, procurement, and data process transformation efforts, consistently delivering results through collaboration, quality, and operational rigor.

Mr. Saban holds degrees in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, and Project Management from the University of Maryland and George Washington University. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and holds the European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity’s DPO certification (ECPC-B DPO).
