
Gemma has worked at the UK Department of Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT), and its predecessor, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, for 7 years. She is currently head of International Data Transfer Tools, including managing the UK’s role in the Global CBPR Forum. She has previously held a range of roles across DSIT/DCMS including developing proposals for legislative reform, and preparing for UK adequacy discussions with the European Union.
Gemma has extensive international and data protection policy experience across UK government: as head of Data Protection at the Department for Exiting the European Union; Head of Data Protection, Criminal Justice and Fundamental Rights in the European and Global Issues team in the Cabinet Office; and Head of Data Protection and Criminal Justice at the Home Office; and working in the UK Representation to the EU in Brussels on single market issues.
