Join us for a real discussion on the future of national security in a way that respects the rights that make us who we are. The esteemed speakers of this session will provide a deeper understanding of how governments balance security measures with the protection of civil liberties. They will present their perspectives on how governments take or should take action to prevent harm without overstepping boundaries, and how technology both aids and complicates this mission.

Key questions

  • How can we make sure that the fight for national security doesn’t end up threatening the freedoms that we’re trying to protect?
  • How can governments use emerging technologies to ensure security while still respecting individual freedoms?
  • When national security and individual freedoms are in conflict, how do we make sure that the solution is a way forward for both rather than a choice between the two?
