Daniele Panfilo, PhD (Rome, 1988) is the CEO and co-founder of Aindo, a pioneering company fostering responsible Artificial Intelligence. Daniele holds a PhD in generative Artificial Intelligence and has extensive professional experience in the healthcare and insurance sectors. His work in these pivotal areas helped shape Aindo’s mission to enable artificial intelligence to add value to society while respecting our rights and freedoms.

Daniele’s achievements include:

• 2016: MSc in Knowledge Engineering & Data Science from Maastricht University (NL);
• 2018: Daniele starts his company Aindo, a startup of the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA). Aindo develops synthetic data generators - an innovative privacy enhancing technology;
• 2020: with Aindo, Daniele wins the prestigious European Data Incubator (EDI) for innovative data science startups;
• 2021: Aindo receives its first major investment of €3m;
• 2022:
  • Daniele obtains his PhD in generative artificial intelligence;
  • Daniele gains recognition as a thought leader on responsible AI and data privacy. He:
    • is featured in the Italian versions of Wired, Fortune, Forbes, Il Sole 24Ore, and more;
    • appears in top panels such as the Computers, Privacy and Data Protection (CPDP) conference, alongside data protection authorities and representatives of big tech companies, including eBay;
    • Participates in consortia to establish standards for data privacy protection, bringing together perspectives from computer science, law, and ethics.
• In both 2022 and 2023, Daniele presents his original research at NeurIPS, the most important scientific conference on artificial intelligence;
• In 2023:
  • Daniele receives a patent for his privacy enhancing technology;
  • Aindo is awarded “Best startup in industry” by Forbes Italia;
  • Aindo secures its second major investment, this time of €6m.
  • Daniele was inducted into the Italian Nova 111 list of 111 top talents under 35 who will shape the future. He is the overall winner in the category “software, cloud and IT”.
