Erin M. Prest has served as the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Privacy and Civil Liberties Officer since February, 2017.  She has also served as the Deputy General Counsel of the FBI Office of the General Counsel's Investigative and Administrative Law Branch, supervising attorneys who advise on technology, forensic science, legal forfeiture, fiscal contracts, and criminal investigative and criminal justice-related topics across FBI programs since 2018. 

Ms. Prest first joined the Office of the General Counsel as an Assistant General Counsel in in the Privacy and Civil Liberties Unit, after working as an FBI Counterterrorism Intelligence Analyst, a position she began while in the Presidential Management Fellows program.  As an Intelligence Analyst, Ms. Prest was detailed to several FBI Field Offices as well as overseas and provided analytic products for senior officials.  Ms. Prest also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. 

Ms. Prest graduated from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law with concentrations in Criminal Law and International Law and is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
