Giuseppe is assistant professor of biomedical engineering at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and coordinator of the Health area at the Life Supporting Technologies group at UPM.
He is Elected President of the European Alliance of Medical and Biological Engineering, former co-chairman of the Working Group on Health of the Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation, coordinator of the Adherence Action Group at the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing and founding member of the “ACTIVAGE.org” association.
He is collaborator of the Health Technology Assessment and Clinical Engineering Divisions, and founding member of the Digital Health Division of the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering.
He is the Technical Manager of all the Large Scale Pilots funded by the EC to demonstrate the impact of AI, 5G, IoT and Robotics towards digital transformation for independent living (ACTIVAGE), chronic disease management and prevention (GATEKEEPER) and the hospital of the future (ODIN).
He is coordinator of the BEAMER project, together with Pfizer, Merck KGaA and PredictBy, working with 28 European partners from academia, civil society and industry to jointly address the issue of non-adherence to care plans.
He has participated in more than 60 competitive projects funded by the EC (FP6, FP7, H2020, EIT Health, IMI, HEurope).
He is associated editor of the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics and Frontiers in Digital Health.
All his activities have in common the goal of improving quality of lives of human beings in sustainable societies and environments
