
Natalie Bertels
Natalie Bertels is a senior legal researcher
privacy and data protection. She specializes in new technologies and the
development of data-driven services and products. Her research focuses on the
data protection challenges of a big data/cloud/IoT/HPC setting and the
methodologies and implementation of privacy by design. Currently, she is
involved in the PRiSE project (Privacy-by-design Regulation in Software
Engineering, internal KUL funding, 2017-2021), working on an integrated
(legal-technical) risk assessment methodology and in the imec Smart City
initiative City of Things. She is the vice-chair of the Policy and Societal
Task Force of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA, www.bdva.eu). Before
joining CiTiP, Natalie practiced law as an IP and ICT law attorney.
