
Gavin Summerson has 14 years’ experience in standards for the built environment, both in authoring standards, providing consulting advice on standards and helping organisations embed standards in their daily operations. Gavin leads Connected Places Catapult’s standards team running the City Standards Network helping advise cities, government, industry and standards bodies on the use and development of city standards. He is co-chair of the IEEE open standards committee for IoT and Smart Cities and a member of BSI SDS/2 for Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities. He previously led BSI’s global certification business for Building Information Modelling and Smart Cities and was a co-author of the Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM, the worlds first Green Building Rating system used in more than 70 countries.
