Mr Martin Tolan

Martin's current role is that of Technical Lead within the Walton Institute of the South East Technical University, Ireland. Martin has been involved in EU research projects since 2014 and was the coordinator of the CogNet project (Phase-1 of the 5G-PPP in H2020). Currently Martin is involved in EU projects relating to both 5G & Transport that has provided exposure to areas including Satellite Navigation, V2X Technologies, Networking (SDN, NFV, etc.) and 5G (NetApps, network slicing, vertical integration & trials, etc.). Previously Martin was a principle engineer within the global R&D group of ABB working in the pulp & paper business unit specialising in the design, implementation and commissioning of online paper measurement and control products. Martin also worked in the Consumer Devices industry for several years and was involved in the development of Digital TVs and Set Top Boxes that were compatible with emerging digital terrestrial television standards (DVB-T).
