Jonas Breuer, is a Research Associate and Project Manager at IMEC since August 2013.
A Bachelor Degree in European Studies from the University of Maastricht, and a
Master of Science in Communication Studies (with Great Distinction) provides
him with the right tools to tackle scientific issues. A cosmopolitan life and a
passion for inter-cultural communication learned and cultivated while working
and living in international environments provides the rest. In his master
thesis, Jonas assessed the ‘Smart City’ from a political economy perspective.
His research still revolves around Smart Cities and related concepts, such as
the role that data assumes, corresponding business models and the role of the
citizen as user in this context. Jonas currently works on the CITADEL II project,
where he supports city authorities in involving citizens in public service
innovation. In the U4IoT coordination and support action, he provides
participatory sustainability models for large scale pilots. He is also part of
the Select4Cities Pre-Commercial Procurement action.
