Children have increasing access to the internet, which also exposes them to significant risks. The Regulation on Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) represents a crucial step in addressing these dangers, aiming to protect children from online exploitation while respecting their privacy rights. This session will explore the current and upcoming regulations, examining their implications for fundamental rights and the ongoing efforts to protect children.

Key questions

  • How is the internet (social media, gaming platforms etc.) shaping the lives of children, and what effective solutions can be implemented to shield them from its risks?
  • Can we truly protect children from online risks without compromising their right to privacy? Where do we draw the line?
  • What are some of the proactive strategies to ensure that child protection measures stay ahead of the next big online risk?
