In view of the massive expansion and expected growth of the transport and logistics ecocystem, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are adapting to the multifold requirements and sophistication. At the same time, ICT technologies supporting the above domains are constantly growing inducing further industrial requirements that need to be met to cope with the competitive environment as well as challenging requirements. These are currently focused on cost savings, safety and reduced emissions, fleet management and legislation support and also data processing, LTE/5G connectivity, V2X communications and connected vehicles). This workshop intends to bring together representatives from industries, research and academia to bridge the gap between industrial requirements, research status and trends as well as strategic agendas for IoT innovation and evolution. The workshop will start with some keynote speeches, setting the scene, over industrial requirements and realistic challenges as well as IoT opportunities as technology enablers. A series of technical presentations from SMEs, large industries and research institutions will follow, presenting the actual status and research direction of IoT solutions for transport and logistics. The thematics of the workshop will cover: Industrial requirements and challenges (rail, vehicles, smart cities), IoT connectivity, data processing and ownership, regulations and compliancy, future logistics, public transit and other. A brainstorming session will conclude the workshop providing a research overview of research orientation based on actual industrial needs. The workshop will be supported by the CHARIOT, ICONET, ENACT and AUTOPILOT EC research projects.
