
Chiara di Somma has been an official at the Italian Data Protection Authority since 1 October 2009.
Since 2009 she has been dealing with issues relating to the processing of data for secondary uses, in particular for the purposes of scientific, historical statistical research and archiving in the public interest.
She graduated in law in 2003 at the University of Naples Federico II, with full marks and honurs, having presented a thesis in civil law on legal and ethical aspects related to the theme "Unwanted birth and compensable damage" for which she received an award on bioethics from the Inter-university Center for Bioethical Research (C.I.R.B.). She obtained a PhD in public and constitutional law at the same University, in 2008. In 2007 has qualified to practice law.
In 2004, she obtained a master's degree from the University of Rome La Sapienza in "The protection of human rights in international law".
She is the author of several legal publications relating to, in particular, the subject of privacy and data protection and she participates as a speaker at various conferences, and collaborates as a teacher for numerous doctorates, master's degrees and training courses on the topic.
