
Elise Niemeijer is Data Protection Officer (DPO) at RDW, the national vehicle and driving license registration authority of the Netherland. She holds a degree in International and European Law from the University of Groningen. Throughout her career, she has held various positions in the field of privacy. As DPO, she actively participates in several DPO networks, where she has gained insights into the different implementation choices organizations make regarding privacy. Since 2022 she is chair of the DPO working group of EReg, the Association of European Vehicle and Driver Registration Authorities.
In recent years, she has focused on AI compliance and frequently speaks on this topic at conferences. The RDW is a frontrunner in the implementation of the AI Act, integrating it in the existing privacy governance. This risk-based pragmatic approach turned out to be particularly effective.
