
Eleni Polymenopoulou (LLM, University Grenoble; Doctorate, University of Grenoble, France) is an Associate Professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Doha (Qatar Foundation). She has served also as an Adjunct Associate Professor, Georgetown University in Qatar, Edmund A Walsh School of Foreign Service, and; a Visiting Professor at the University of Grenoble, France, and has also been a Visiting Fellow at UCL- Qatar.
Before her current appointment she has practiced law, and has also advised and collaborated with several NGOs, including the Greek Council for Refugees(GCR), Article19 and the International Press Institute (IPI).
She teaches among other things international human Rights Law; International law and; and Media and Cultural Law. Her most recent book is a monograph on Artistic Freedom in International law (Cambridge University Press 2023).

The right to transparent, free, unbiased and pluralistic information is a pillar in democratic societies, allowing citizens to think critically and challenge their own perspectives before making decisions and judgements. With insights from academics and practitioners, this panel promises to be an interesting debate at the intersection of freedom of expression, democracy and data regulation.
