Dr. David Floyd

Dr. David Floyd is an Associate Professor of English at Charleston Southern University. He earned his first PhD in Victorian genre fiction (proto-science fiction, fantasy, imperial, and adventure literature) from Stirling University in Scotland. He is currently pursuing a second doctorate, in Cultural History, through the University of Turku, Finland, with a focus on late nineteenth-century British culture. His book Street Urchins, Sociopaths, and Degenerates: Orphans of Late-Victorian and Edwardian Fiction was published in 2014. In addition to Victorian literature and culture, David’s research interests include Fortean subjects and their cultural contexts. David has presented at several Bigfoot conferences, appeared on various Fortean podcasts, and appeared in Bilco’s documentary, Cultured Bigfoot and Small Town Monsters’ documentary The Bray Road Beast
