The theme of UFOs and ETs permeates every facet of pop culture, and it’s been a fixture in Hollywood for decades. Movies and TV shows have drawn from allegedly real UFO/ET incidents for inspiration. But how has Hollywood influenced public perception of UFOs and extraterrestrial life? And does the government play a role in influencing public perception? This panel will highlight select shows inspired by, or based on, allegedly true events. It will also examine how the way we think about UFOs and extraterrestrials is affected by pop culture portrayals. Finally, it will explore how the government uses popular media in its effort to influence public opinion regarding UFOs and extraterrestrial life.
