HISTORY’s new hit drama series Project Blue Book (from A+E Studios) is based on the true, top-secret investigations into unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and related phenomena conducted by the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1969.

The series is inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek, a brilliant college professor recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead this clandestine operation (Project Blue Book) that researched thousands of cases, over 700 of which remain unsolved to this day. Season 1 drew from the actual case files, blending UFO theories with authentic historical events from one of the most mysterious eras in United States history. But telling this dramatic tale required deep research, an interview with the last surviving head of Project Blue Book, declassified documents, and clever storytelling to maintain authenticity while allowing the thrills to play out.

Hear from the team behind the show about what really happened, how they brought Project Blue Book to life and what they are planning for Season 2—including some of the 12,000 declassified cases and mysterious sightings that truly are stranger than fiction.
