If the universe is really chock-a-block with life, including intelligent life, why don’t we see signs of it everywhere? Why don’t we find alien colonies or any other obvious evidence of extraterrestrial presence? Enrico Fermi realized that there’s been plenty of time in the history of the universe for any ambitious beings to visit, and colonize, every suitable star system out there. So does our failure to sense the aliens mean that we’re alone? Or is there some other explanation for what’s called the Fermi Paradox?
