Ralph Lewis creates original theatre as director, writer, actor, and teacher. He also produces diverse, multi-disciplinary works in unique, non-theatre venues throughout NYC and beyond, including Merchant’s House, Gershwin Hotel, Marble Cemetery, Bowery Whole Foods, all over Judson Church, and the streets of Greenwich Village for the Obie Award-winning OFF Stage. Co-founder of Peculiar Works Project (2018 Caffe Cino Award) since 1993, his virtual tour of NYC’s first theatres has been presented by the Episcopal Actors’ Guild, Untapped Cities, Lower Eastside Preservation Initiative, and bi-monthly for the NY Adventure Club. Recent projects include Intuitive Leap (Herding Cats Prod.), Jane's Return (Municipal Art Society), The Astor Place Riots (NY Adventure Club), and Smile Like A Knife (Ego-Actus). Pre-pandemic creations include AFTERPARTY: The Rothko Studio (222 Bowery); 2 Jane Jacobs (Village Preservation); and Planet X (Black Mountain [Re]Happening, NC). Other directing includes three Robert Heide Plays; two Climate Change Theatre Actions; and America’s first play, Androboros (Fraunces Tavern Museum); as well as terrific plays by William M. Hoffman, Megan Terry, Larry Gelbart, Paul Foster, John Patrick Shanley, Hallie Flanagan, Dostoevsky, Aristophanes, and Dr. Suess. AEA, SAG/AFTRA, LCT Directors Lab, NYU-TSOA, and Trinity/LaMaMa master teacher.
