Caseen Gaines is an author, educator, and cultural historian. His most recent book "Footnotes: The Black Artists Who Rewrote the Rules of the Great White Way" is a deep-dive into the groundbreaking 1921 musical comedy Shuffle Along, the first show with an all-Black cast and creative team to succeed on Broadway and throughout North America. He has also written books that cover Broadway runs of The Pee-wee Herman Show (2010-2011) and A Christmas Story: The Musical (2012). He is active on social media @caseengaines.
