Audio description is a narration service that provides descriptions of sets, costumes, body language and visual jokes with blind or low-vision patrons via headsets. With more than 7.7 million blind or visually impaired people in America and that number expected to more than double by 2050 due to the aging baby boomer population, audio descriptive services are more necessary than ever. This session will answer such questions as: what makes a good audio describer and how does one create an audio description program? This session will also cover the fundamentals of audio description as well as how to advocate for description at your local theatre.
