Sandwiched between her father, legendary melodist Richard Rodgers, and her son, Tony Award winner Adam Guettel, Mary was the prodigiously talented composer behind the endlessly revivable Once Upon a Mattress. She was “a woman who tried everything” – including a trial marriage with Stephen Sondheim. (It didn’t take.) In the last years of Mary's life, New York Times chief theatre critic Jesse Green became one of her final collaborators; they met for countless hours of conversation that come together to make Shy: The Alarmingly Outspoken Memoirs of Mary Rodgers. Jesse says it’s some of the most fun he’s ever had. Live at BroadwayCon, Jesse will offer insight into Mary's life and legacy and her countless contributions to the Golden Age of American musical theatre.
