MARCIA MITZMAN GAVEN received a TONY Award nomination as Mrs. Walker in the Broadway smash TOMMY and was praised for her "show stopping performance" on the Grammy winning Broadway cast recording. Also on Broadway, she starred as Svetlana in CHESS, Rizzo in GREASE, in Cy Coleman’s WELCOME TO THE CLUB, and ZORBA with Anthony Quinn. Lincoln Center: Nellie in SOUTH PACIFIC, Meg in BRIGADOON, and Mrs. Lovett in SWEENY TODD. In Los Angeles she starred as Mother in the American Premier of RAGTIME with Brian Stokes Mitchell (Ovation Award Best Lead Actress), Abigail Adams in 1776 opposite Roger Rees, Charlotte in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC (directed by Gordon Davidson) and received the Ovation award, and L.A. Drama Critics Circle award for Best Lead Actress as Florence in CHESS.
Her extensive voice over includes voicing the roles of Maude Flanders, Helen Lovejoy, Luann Van Houten and Miss Hoover in THE SIMPSONS.
