Jaime Luis Sánchez Rodríguez began his acting career on Broadway at the age of 18 in 1957, when he played Chino in the original cast of West Side Story. He also performed in numerous off-Broadway theater productions, including an appearance as Marc Antony in Joseph Papp's 1979 production of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.  In 2002, Sánchez received the HOLA Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA).
