Rachel Spencer Hewitt received her MFA in Acting from the Yale School of Drama and earned her equity card understudying and performing at the Yale Repertory Theater. Her professional acting resume includes Broadway Debut in tony-nominated King Charles III at The Music Box theater, off-Broadway productions, including the Paula Vogel/Tina Landau New York premiere of A Civil War Christmas, The Seagull at The Culture Project, and understudying Peter and the Starcatcher at New York Theatre Workshop. Her regional credits include All's Well That Ends Well, Servant of Two Masters, Much Ado About Nothing, Strange Interlude (STC), and Master Builder (Yale Rep). As founder of PAAL, Parent Artist Advocacy League for the Performing Arts, she has connected with the founders of MAM Ireland and PIPA UK, all of whom are creating groundbreaking solutions in their respective countries. Rachel recently participated in a gender equity think tank representing parent artists at the 2017 Theatre Communications Group National Conference, was an Invited Attendee at the Berkshire Leadership Summit, and has hosted five forums on Motherhood in Theatre in Chicago, Philadelphia, Montclair (NJ), Boston and New York City. She has founded a national online community and resource initiative to highlight, identify, and create dialogue on parenthood in the theater arts on her blog AuditioningMom.com and PAALTheatre.com.
