Tobie Stein
For the past twenty years, Tobie S. Stein has directed the graduate program in performing arts
management at Brooklyn College, The City University of New York. She has placed over 150
graduate students in managerial positions with performing arts organizations, many of which are
on Broadway or serve the Broadway community. Actors’ Equity Association, Boneau/Bryan-
Brown, Broadway Asia, CAMI Theatricals, Daryl Roth Productions, Disney Theatricals,
Foresight Theatrical, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Lyric
Theatre, Marc Routh Productions, Manhattan Theatre Club, New York City Center, Richard
Frankel Productions, Roundabout Theatre Company, Situation Interactive, The Public Theater,
Signature Theatre, SpotCo, Stage Directors and Choreographers, Theatre Communications
Group, and the Theatre Development Fund have hired Brooklyn College graduate students as
interns, as well as general and company managers, marketing and financial executives, and
booking agents.
Tobie Stein is the author of four books including, Boston’s Colonial Theatre: Celebrating a
Century of Theatrical Vision and Leadership in the Performing Arts.
A former Tony Nominator, she is the recipient of two Fulbright scholarships to Israel and
Taiwan.
She holds a Ph.D. from the City University of New York Graduate Center.
