Shonica Gooden is a proud native of Atlanta, GA. While growing up in Atlanta, Shonica attended Dekalb School of the Arts as well as trained extensively at Dance Makers of Atlanta. In 2011, she graduated from Point Park University with a BFA in Dance. Throughout her collegiate career, Shonica performed works by choreographers such as Martha Graham, David Parsons, Bill T. Jones, Robert Battle, Daniel Ezralow, and Kiesha Lalama.
