Joe Dempsie originally learned his craft at the reputable Nottingham TV Workshop with the likes of Jack O’Connell, Michael Socha, Vicky McClure, Samantha Morton and Toby Kebbell. Credits include British sci-fi film Monsters: Dark Continent produced by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla and Rogue One), a feature-length drama opposite Daniel Radcliffe called Gamechanger for the BBC and critically acclaimed and multi award-winning This is England 90. He starred with Jamie Dornan in New Worlds last year and, picking his projects very carefully, he has no fewer than seven BAFTA-winning shows under his belt: Game of Thrones, Southcliffe, The Fades, Murder, Skins, The Accused, and This is England, and in more recent years, One of Us, Ellen, Dark River, and Burn, Burn, Burn.

Joe returned to Game of Thrones for season 7 of the hit series, receiving a huge amount of global press covering the greatly anticipated homecoming of his much-loved character, Gendry—bastard son to the late King Baratheon. Joe is currently filming the final series due to air in 2019.

Joe recently starred in the Fox Network Group original spy thriller Deep State alongside Mark Strong, directed by the award-winning Robert Connolly (Paper Planes). The eight-episode series will premiere on the US network Epix this June. Been So Long, a musical film backed by Film 4 and the BFI starring George Mackay and Michaela Coel, is due for release in 2018.
