Eric has been actively investigating and researching the 1971 DB Cooper skyjacking for over a decade—the only unsolved skyjacking in United States history. To date, Eric has read over 20,000 pages of FBI files related to the case, and has interviewed FBI agents, first-hand witnesses, suspects, scientists and legal experts all related to the mystery.

In 2019, Eric’s research helped him identify the precise spot along the Columbia River in Washington State that a portion of DB Cooper’s ransom was found in 1980—a location that had been lost to time. Additionally, Eric’s research identified new evidence that has materially reshaped what we known about DB Cooper and the mystery. Indeed, this new evidence now puts solving the case within our reach.

Eric has written extensively about DB Cooper and the case. Eric is also the founder and organizer of CooperCon which takes place each November in metro-Portland.
