New York Times bestselling author David Treuer is an Ojibwe Indian from Leech Lake Reservation in northern Minnesota. He is the author of seven books—fiction, nonfiction and literary essays. His most recent book is The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee (a New York Times Notable Book and finalist for the National Book Award). He divides his time between his home on the Leech Lake Reservation and Los Angeles, where he is a Professor of English at USC.
