After 2016, three changes prompted reconsideration of Snape. Cursed Child portrayed him as an unambiguous hero rather than morally gray. The rise in U.S. hate crimes brought more focus on those who leave hate groups and fight to bring them down. Finally, the author’s transphobia calls for re-examination of the issues around Boggart Snape. The talk will include detailed coverage of correspondence with community sensitivity readers and professional sensitivity reader Charles Waltz while revising a 2016 book on Snape for 2022.
