Is Cho Chang Korean? Maybe. What about Nagini from the Fantastic Beasts film series? Sort of. Can a Korean character be imagined into the Little House books? Partially. Is Cho’s name inaccurate? Not entirely. It can be challenging for someone who is part of the Korean diaspora to see where we fit in the stories of Anglophone popular culture. What about YOU? If you’re second-gen or more, racially part Korean, or Korean but not fluent in the language, how do you engage with existing Anglophone canon? How do you author changes to this canon with your own stories?
