The Harry Potter series begins with the death of James and Lily Potter and ends with the death of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks Lupin. Throughout, there is quite a bit of emphasis on the ideas that parents and their fates shape that of their children and the people around them. Looking at the different parents within the series, I will focus on the ways that the parents and their actions (or lack of action) have a profound effect upon their children.
