Of the four Houses, Rowling writes the least about Ravenclaw. Harry Potter is a Gryffindor story, Cursed Child explores Slytherin, and the Fantastic Beasts films center Hufflepuff. Ravenclaw remains ghostlike, represented by the ghost of a young woman who suffered domestic violence and felt regrets about her mother. We will explore Rowling’s ambivalent feelings toward giftedness, books, and cleverness through discussion of gifted characters such as the Grey Lady, Hermione, Snape, and Dumbledore.
