Charged with upholding the tradition of success that SFA men’s basketball has been defined by for nearly a century, Kyle Keller is set to begin his fourth season in charge of the ‘Jacks in the 2019-20 academic year. Under Keller's watch, SFA has maintained the tradition of excellence the program has been defined by for nearly one century by owning the best winning percentage of any NCAA Division I men's basketbal program in the state of Texas through the past decade.

With a 60-38 (.612) record through his first three seasons, Keller ranks eighth in program history in terms of total coaching victories and owns the program's third-highest winning percentage in conference action. Through his tenure as SFA's head coach, Keller's players have brought in a total of seven All-Southland Conference awards, three Southland Conference All-Tournament Team citations and four NABC All-District laurels.

In 2018-19, his most recent season in charge of the ‘Jacks, Keller watched a pair of his pupils become just the second tandem in the program’s NCAA Division I-era history to each score 500 or more points in a season. Shannon Bogues (536 points) and Kevon Harris (533 points) each earned spots on the NABC All-District 23 First Team as well as the All-Southland Conference Second Team by becoming the first SFA duo in a decade to each amass 500-plus points in a campaign.

Both Bogues and Harris gained entry into the program’s 1,000-point club through the course of the season which was highlighted in part by a win at the buzzer at eventual NCAA Tournament entrant Baylor on Dec. 18. For Bogues, he became the first SFA player in two decades to lead the Southland Conference in scoring (17.9 ppg) and wrapped up his career ranked 27th on the program’s all-time scoring charts (1,075 points).

Under Keller’s direction, SFA’s fifth NCAA Tournament appearance - all of which have come in the last 11 seasons - represented the culmination of a 2017-18 season that also featured the ‘Jacks’ first win over an opponent from the SEC and a win total which stands as the fifth-best in program history. By leading SFA back to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in the past five seasons, Keller also distinguished himself as one of only two second-year NCAA Division I head coaches who took their teams to the big dance.
