The 2019-20 season, Landry Kosmalski’s eighth at Swarthmore, was magical by any standard. The team started and finished the season ranked No. 1 nationally, won its first 26 games, and finished 28-1, primed for an NCAA tournament Sweet 16 game before the season was canceled. For leading the team to such heights, Kosmalski was named NABC National and Regional Coach of the Year, as well as Centennial Conference Coach of the Year for the fourth time in five seasons. Zac O’Dell and Nate Shafer were both honored as All-Americans, Vinny DeAngelo was named National Freshman of the Year, and sophomore George Visconti joined those three in receiving All-Conference recognition.

The 2018-19 season, Landry Kosmalski's seventh at Swarthmore, was – for an astounding fourth consecutive year – the most successful in program history. Building on their then program-best 25-6 record and trip to the Elite Eight in 2017-18, the Garnet defied all expectations in 2018-19 by advancing to the National Championship game and finishing the season ranked second in the national polls with a 29-4 record. Centennial Conference regular season champions for the third season in a row – and conference tournament champs for the second time in three years – the Garnet also finished 7-0 in their non-conference schedule. As in past years, the team was near or at the top of many national statistical lists, including fifth in total rebounds, seventh in both scoring defense and field goal percentage defense, and – for the second season in a row – first in total blocks.

Individual recognition abounded in 2018-19: senior Cam Wiley and junior Zac O’Dell were named First Team All-Centennial Conference, junior Nate Shafer earned Second Team All-Conference recognition, and sophomore Conor Harkins was named All-Conference Honorable Mention. The Centennial Conference named Wiley Player of the Year for the second time in his career, O’Dell garnered Defensive Player of the Year honors, and Kosmalski was named Centennial Conference Coach of the Year for the third time in four seasons. Swarthmore received recognition on the regional and national level as well as Wiley and O’Dell were both named to the D3hoops All-American Third Team and Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team, as well as the NABC All-Region First Team. Wiley earned NABC All-America First Team honors as well as being named D3hoops Mid-Atlantic Region and NABC District Player of the Year. Kosmalski was also named D3hoops Mid-Atlantic Region and NABC District Coach of the Year.
