Participates in 1 Session

The 2016-17 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Coach of the Year, Stephen Brennan is in his 22nd season at the helm of the Babson College men's basketball program. The winningest coach in school history, Brennan has guided the Beavers to seven NCAA Tournament appearances and led the program to its first Division III national championship in 2016-17.

A nine-time conference coach of the year, Brennan helped the Green and White win its first NEWMAC Tournament championship on the way to reaching the NCAA Tournament Sectional Semifinals in 2002. Babson won 26 games and captured an ECAC Tournament title in 2003 and then claimed another NEWMAC championship and a berth into into the NCAA Tournament in 2004.

After posting their first 20-win season since 2004 and returning to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade in 2014, Brennan guided the Beavers to a historic 2014-15 campaign. Babson won a then-school-record 29 games, claimed both the NEWMAC regular season and tournament championships, and reached the NCAA Division III Final Four for the first time in program history. Brennan repeated as the conference coach of the year and was selected as the D3hoops.com Northeast Region and ECAC New England Coach of the year.

In 2015-16, Brennan guided the Green and White to its second straight NEWMAC regular season and tournament championships. The Beavers finished the year at 23-6 and were one of just three Division III programs to reach the sectional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons.

The Green and White put together another historic campaign in 2016-17, setting a new school record with 31 victories and defeating Augustana (Ill.) 79-78 to capture the program's first national title. The Beavers rallied from a 25-point deficit in their national semifinal victory over previously-unbeaten Whitman and became the school's first Division III team champion since 1984. Brennan, who led his team to the first unbeaten league record in NEWMAC history, earned his fourth straight conference coach of the year award and also was tabbed as the D3hoops.com Northeast Region Coach of the Year.

A 1983 graduate of nearby Belmont High School, Brennan captained the Marauders and was a Middlesex League All-Star selection as a senior. Brennan matriculated at Bates College, where he was a four-year letter winner for the Bobcats, graduating in 1987. Following a year in private business, Brennan returned to his alma mater as assistant coach for one year before joining the Babson staff in 1989 in a similar capacity. A respected lecturer and director of the popular Babson basketball camp, Brennan received his master's degree in teaching from Tufts University in 1992. He currently resides with his wife, Samantha, and twins, Ellie and James, in Southborough, Mass.
