Steve Christiansen enters his fifteenth season as Triton head coach. His teams have combined to average over 25 wins per season while compiling an overall record of 367-96. As he begins the 2018-2019 campaign with the Trojans, Coach Christiansen has nine N4C Conference Championships, including five straight, to post along with four Region IV Titles. Under Christiansen, the Trojans won the 2018 NJCAA Division II National Championship (the first in school history), placed second at the 2016 NJCAA Division II National Tournament. During the 2015-16 campaign, the teams was ranked number one in the nation for final seven weeks of the season. In 2011, Christiansen's squad took third and in 2006 eighth, at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. The Trojans have been ranked number one at various points in each of the last four seasons.

For the 2005-2006, 2010-11, 2015-16 and 2017-18 seasons’ accomplishments, Christiansen was named the District Three Coach-of-the-Year, the Region IV Coach-of-the-Year, the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Junior College, Division II Coach-of-the-Year and the NJCAA Division II National Championship Coach’s Award. Following the National Championship he was also named NABC Junior College and Spalding NJCAA Coach of the Year.
