A highly acclaimed leader, Stewart was named the second head men's basketball coach in school history on June 28, 2011. Stewart also serves as an Assistant Athletic Director and is the Director of the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

He is actively involved in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Board of the Directors, recently appointed President during the 2021-22 NCAA DI Final Four. In his role as NABC President, Stewart provides strategic oversight of the NABC and works to ensure coaches' input is considered by the game's governing bodies.
