Tommy Lloyd was named head coach at the University of Arizona on April 14, 2021 after serving as an assistant coach at Gonzaga the previous 22 seasons, where he developed 19 All-Americans and 15 conference players of the year and contributed to five straight 30-win seasons and two appearances in the national championship game.

He posted a 45-5 record through his first 50 games as a head coach, the second-best record for the first 50 games of a coach's career in NCAA History, trailing Wisconsin's Doc Meanwell's 49-1 mark from 1911-14.
