Dr. Brittany L. Collins is the CEO of Developing ME! Counseling and Consulting, LLC and Mental health therapist for the University of Louisville Athletics Department through UofL Health. She completed her Ph.D. in 2022 in Counselor Education and Supervision with a Multicultural and Social Justice Cognate at the University of Cincinnati. Her dissertation research was entitled: A Narrative Exploration into the Intersection of Division I Black Student-Athlete Environment, Identity, and Mental Health. In 2022, she was also awarded Outstanding Doctoral Student of the Year by the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology (CECH). Other awards include the Mizzou Made Staff of the Year, an award-nominated by the student-athletes and voted upon by the student-athlete athletic council (SAAC). Collins was also awarded the 2018-2019 Emerging Leader award by the American College Counselors Association (ACCA).

Dr. Collins has served as Assistant Director of Athletics-Director of Mental Health and Wellness and Licensed Mental Health Professional through the University of Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Department as well as the University of Cincinnati’s Sports Medicine Department. She is a National Certified Counselor and Board-Certified Tele Mental Health Provider. She is licensed to practice as a Professional Clinical Counselor and Clinical Supervisor in the state of Ohio, Kentucky, and Missouri as well as licensed to practice as a Professional counselor in the State of Texas. She received her Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed) in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Dayton in 2016. She also completed a 2-year certificate in Supervisor/Management from NCState University as well as received her Master of Science (M.S.) in Coaching Education/Athletic Administration in 2003 and her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Sports Management from Ohio University in 2002 where she also was awarded a full athletic scholarship and was a member of the women’s basketball team.

Her clinical experience includes private practice, contracted college counselor, in-school therapist, outpatient therapist, residential treatment, and individual and team counseling for high school and collegiate student-athletes, youth, adolescents, adults, and families. She is also a Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) through the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS). Her research interests and clinical expertise focus on the student-athlete population regarding multicultural concerns and identity, injury, race-based stress and trauma, identity development, and overall well-being. In addition to depression, anxiety, grief, relationships, self-awareness and self-compassion, intimate partner violence, life transition, and career development. Brittany works from a humanistic, strengths-based, solution-focused approach as well as utilizing a multicultural feminist lens while incorporating the ecological perspective into practice.

Her memberships include the American Counseling Association (ACA), American College Counselors Association (ACCA), where she served as Co-chair of the ACCA Diversity and Inclusion (D/I) Committee (2019-2021), Association for Applied Sports Psychology (AASP), where she also serves as Co-chair for the Black professionals in Sports & Performance Psychology Affinity group, Association for Counselor Educators and Supervisors (ACES), Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD), Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society, Collegiate Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association (CCSPA), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, Miami Valley Counseling Association (MVCA), National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) Clinician Directory, Ohio Counseling Association (OCA), Ohio College Counselors Association (OCCA), and Women Leaders In College Sports.
