Thomas Montigel is in his 10th season with TCU men’s basketball, his eighth season running the Horned Frogs’ basketball operations. As Assistant Athletics Director, Men’s Basketball Operations, Montigel continues to streamline the day-to-day operations of the program. Montigel is responsible for scheduling the Horned Frogs’ non-conference games, working closely with head coach Jamie Dixon to annually construct a challenging schedule. He is also the program’s compliance liaison, director of the Jamie Dixon Basketball Camps, liaison to the Fast Break Club, budget manager and team travel coordinator. On May 1, 2018, Montigel was named one of the NABC 2017-18 Under Armour 30-under-30 honorees. The award recognizes the group as up-and-coming young coaches in men’s college basketball. Montigel previously served two seasons as a graduate assistant within the program, between 2014-16. The Fort Worth native was a four-year letterman for the Horned Frogs between 2011-14. During his senior season, Montigel appeared in 25 contests, while starting the final regular-season game against Oklahoma. He was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree and graduated from TCU with a degree in finance and entrepreneurial management. In 2016, Montigel earned his master’s degree in liberal arts from TCU and in 2021, earned his professional MBA degree at the Neeley School of Business.
