University of Washington Basketball Coach Lorenzo Romar announced on May 16, 2013 that Raphael Chillious will re-join his coaching staff. Chillious spent the previous season at Villanova after serving as an assistant to Romar at UW from 2010-12. Chillious was a vital member of Jay Wright's staff at Villanova in 2013, when he helped the Wildcats to a 20-14 record, 10-8 in BIG EAST action. He coached third team All-BIG EAST selection JayVaughn Pinkson and All-Rookie team member Ryan Arcidiacono and Villanova notched three wins over top-five ranked opponents, including a 73-64 victory over eventual national champion Louisville. The Wildcats earned a No. 9 seed in the NCAA tournament and lost in the first round to North Carolina. Prior to Villanova, Chillious was an integral part of Romar's staff that helped the Huskies to back-to-back Pac-10 tournament championships in 2010 and '11, plus the regular season title in first year of the newly formed Pac-12 in 2012. He helped coach the team to a 26-10 record and NCAA Sweet 16 appearance his first year, followed by a 24-11 season and second consecutive Pac-10 Tournament Championship in 2011. In 2012, Washington was 24-11, 14-4 in Pac-12 action to finish first in the Conference. Chillious played a key role in coaching guards at Washington - including Isaiah Thomas, who was a two-time All-Pac-10 performer. He also established his foothold in the world of recruiting by helping Romar form highly acclaimed 2010 and 2011 classes. Chillious originally joined the Huskies coaching staff on April 20, 2009. Prior to Washington, Chillious served as Nike's business manager for Elite Youth Basketball in Beaverton, Ore., since Feb., 2008. He previously served as the head coach and co-athletic director at South Kent (Conn.) School from 2003-08. He also held the position as head basketball coach at Nottingham Academy in Colora, Md. From 2001-03. Chillious began his career in 1997 as an assistant coach at the University of Victoria in Victoria, B.C. He is a 1996 graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., where he earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology and registered a 3.4 grade point average as a senior He also served as a captain of the Lafayette basketball team. Before UW, Chillious coached three players who are playing or played in the National Basketball Association - Josh Boone, Dorrell Wright and Andray Blatche. He has coached nearly 40 players who have advanced their careers at NCAA Division I schools, including former Huskies Isaiah Thomas and Matthew Bryan-Amaning

Chillious and his wife, Charlene, have a young daughter - Zaya Joy.
