With six Sweet 16 appearances, 13 NCAA Tournament berths, three Big Ten regular-season championships, a Big Ten Tournament title and an international gold medal on his résumé, L. Dick Buell Men’s Basketball Head Coach Matt Painter is widely regarded as one of the brightest minds in all of college basketball.
With a newly-signed contract in 2019 to stay on board through the 2023-24 season with five one-year extensions rolled in following that, Painter has a chance to cement himself as not only the winningest coach in Purdue history, but as one of college basketball’s best coaches.
The Boilermakers have been a fixture in the NCAA Tournament and is one of three schools nationally to make four Sweet 16s in the last five tournaments. Over the last six tournament appearances, Purdue is one of two schools to earn a top-5 seed in each of its trips and the Boilermakers have posted a 47-18 (.723) record over the last two seasons.
