Matt and Karen both served
as public school teachers for many years before each transitioning into the
animal sheltering field as Humane Educators. Karen has worked at St. Hubert’s
since 2017 in that capacity, providing young people with authentic learning experiences
that serve the shelter’s mission. Matt began his animal welfare career at
Animal Care & Control of NYC (now Animal Care Centers), then worked at The
Humane Society of the United States where he created a variety of cat behavior
counseling materials for the animal sheltering world and helped develop HSUS’s
Pets Are Welcome program. He has been at St. Hubert’s since 2017.
