Sheila Blanchette’s love for birds began when she received her first Red Lory in 1995 and soon joined the American Lory Society. With her developing passion for birds, Sheila began volunteering at the MSPCA – Nevins Farm (Methuen, MA), in 2010. This love of birds, and the desire to improve understanding and welfare led to the study of avian behavior and Applied Behavior Analysis. In 2015, Sheila became an IAABC Certified Parrot BehaviorConsultant/Trainer and established her own mobile training company: Heart of Feathers Education & Training. Sheila is connected with local rescues; connected with MSPCA – Nevins Farm (Methuen, MA), Foster Parrots (Hope Valley, RI), Rhode Island Parrot Rescue (Warwick, RI).

Sheila volunteers her hands-on rescue experience to support the Quaker Parrot Society as the Chair of the Quaker Parakeet Society Rehome and Placement Program (2017). Heart of Feathers Education & Training does educational programs (at rescues), In-home behavior consultations, as well as instructing online educational programs on bird behavior with the Pet Professional Guild, in which she is an Avian Member.
