To Evaluate or Not to Evaluate? Reimagining Behavior Evaluations for a Four-Shelter System

When:
11:00 AM, Wednesday 20 Mar 2024 (1 hour)
Breaks:
VENDOR & EXHIBITOR LUNCH   12:00 PM to 01:00 PM (1 hour)
Where:
Crowne Plaza Warwick - Track B - Patriots
How:
The merge between MSPCA and NEAS requires a new level of consistency among our four-shelter system to support fluid internal transfer of and communication surrounding our dog population. To meet our unique needs, we developed an evaluation process comprised of objective observations recorded during routine daily care and at natural checkpoints in an animal’s pathway. We aim to equip staff and volunteers with the skills to participate in behavior evaluations through effective observation and data collection.  Staff providing routine behavior support will free the behavior team to provide more complex support, ultimately decreasing length of stay.
